Rehearsing is fun! |

10/10/08 - First Keith and James and I started rehearsing, then Andrea joined the band, and finally I called my old friend Gary Talley on my cell phone from the Whole Foods parking lot and asked if he wanted to fly out from Nashville to play guitar on the September 6th gig - and he said "yes"! We all managed to stuff ourselves into my trailer (The Blue Flamingo) for our final rehearsals, and "Diddi Mac and The Fruit Pies" were born. Diverging from our usual material, we discovered that The Pies' true calling was writing sound tracks for spy movies. For the gig, however, we decided to stick with my songs with only a brief taste of Spy Music during the intro.
11/09/08 - Gary went back to Nashville after the September 6th gig, and "The Pies" regrouped with guitar player Pete Moyer, a Music Night regular and childhood friend of Patrick's, for a November 15th gig at South Pasadena Music Conservatory. Spy music has made way for "Joe the Detective" music. We worked up my new song, "Mad at Me" which was kind of rock/folk until Keith suggested playing it with a klezmer beat (playing only the upbeats) and now we don't no what to call it. But it's really fun.
